What's All This Stuff You're Holding Onto?

We talk about detoxing our bodies all the time, right? Juice cleanses, colon cleanses, all that stuff. But what about all the emotional cbaggage we're carrying around? Every time you stuff down anger, push away sadness, or pretend you're not scared when you actually are - that stuff doesn't just disappear. It gets stuck in your body.

Think of it like emotional clutter. And just like the junk in your garage, it starts affecting everything else. Your back hurts, you can't sleep, you're always getting sick. Yeah, a lot of that might be coming from old emotional eight you never dealt with.

How Your Feelings Mess with Your Body

Here's something that might surprise you - many wellness practitioners believe your emotions can contribute to physical tension and discomfort. When something stressful happens, or you're constantly worried, or you're carrying around old hurt, your body often responds with real physical symptoms.

In our experience working with clients, we've noticed some interesting patterns:

  • Anger and resentment - people often report tension in their midsection
  • Fear and anxiety - many experience lower back or kidney area discomfort
  • Sadness and grief - chest tightness and breathing issues are common

These stuck emotions often seem to contribute to inflammation and discomfort. You can take all the medicine you want, but in our approach, we believe addressing the emotional aspects can be an important part of overall wellness.

Three Ways to Start Cleaning House Emotionally

Starting this kind of work takes guts, but it's so worth it. Here are three things from our BraveHeart 12 Self-Loving Steps that you can start doing right now.

Be Grateful for Something Every Day: Before you even get out of bed, think of three things you're actually grateful for. Not fake gratitude - real stuff. Gratitude is like emotional detox. It literally changes your brain chemistry and makes it impossible for negative thoughts to stick around. It's like taking out the emotional trash.

Let People Off the Hook: This one's hard, but it's magic. Pick three people (or situations, or even yourself) that you're mad at, and just... let it go. Forgive them. Send them love, even if they don't deserve it. Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting them to get sick. You're only hurting yourself.

Come Back to Right Now: Most of our emotional baggage lives in the past. The present moment is where you actually have power. Try this - put a rubber band on your wrist. When you catch yourself spiraling into negative thoughts, snap it gently and say "I love myself." Sounds cheesy, but it breaks the pattern and brings you back to now.

You're Your Own Best Healer

Here's the truth - healing isn't about adding more stuff to your life. It's about getting rid of what doesn't belong. All those old stories, traumas, and patterns that are keeping you stuck? Time to let them go.

This emotional cleanup work may help you find more peace. And when your emotions feel lighter, many people report feeling better physically too.
